The Made-in-Michigan Film Society holds its meetings, which include a screening of a Michigan filmmaker’s feature film, on the fourth Thursday of every month. Free and open to the public, the meetings are held at 7 p.m. in Metamora, Michigan, at the historic Metamora Movie House built in 1888. It is located in the center of the picturesque village opposite the White Horse Inn. Films are award winners from previous annual Made-in-Michigan Film Festivals held in neighboring Lapeer. The festivals featured Michigan films and filmmakers, and have given hundreds of independent film lovers, filmmakers, and visitors a reason to come to Lapeer County in October on the weekend that fall color peaks in Southeast Michigan. As a result of the monthly film society meetings and the annual film festival, Lapeer County has established itself as an attractive filming location for movie and television.
